場 (Kanji for place)

This is a COCK because - in jukugo　it almost always uses its KUN yomi (remember, most kanji use the ON yomi in jukugo). On the good side: basically you can forget about learning the ON yomi, which is less work for you AND then you don't get confused which pronunciation to use.

SUFFIX! xxx場 means 'the place where　we do XXX' (i.e. graveyard is 'grave-場, slaughter house is 'slaughter 場' and so on) Unlike the related kanji 所,　場 emphasizes the activity rather than the location. SUF

場所(ばしょ)	place ★★★★★ KUN ON 場 (place) + 所 (area / attribute) = 場所 (place) place, like a parking lot. Also space, as in, your moms can't ride in my new van because there's not enough space. This is by far the most popular word to use these kanji, so it's too bad the pronunciation is messed up: 場 uses kun, but 所 uses onyomi. Assholes.
xxxの場合(ばあい)	in the case of XXX ★★★★★ KUNKUN 場 (place) + 合 (to suit) = 場合 (in the case of XXX)
登場人物(とうじょうじんぶつ)	character ★★★☆☆ 登場 (enter the stage) + 人 (person) + 物 (animal / thing) = 登場人物 (character) a character in a book, play, novel, movie, etc.
現場(げんば)	the current place ★★★☆☆ KUN ON 現 (reality) + 場 (place) = 現場 (the current place) the current place. (this one is used on the 'YOU ARE HERE' part of maps)
立場(たちば)	point of view ★☆☆☆☆ KUNKUN NOKURI 立 (stand up) + 場 (place) = 立場 (point of view) point of view, usually used like: XXXの立場からして。。。（from XXX's point of view. . . )
